A story that began with a question.
In 2017, Sindy faced a debilitating illness. Searching for answers took her through a difficult experience with the medical system and left her feeling isolated. In her own account, it was also the beginning of a deeper spiritual journey.
Prayer, scripture, and reflection became part of her search for meaning. Sindy felt called to share what she was learning and to remind others living through illness that they are not alone.

At first, Sindy did not think of herself as a writer. But she felt that God had opened a door for her, and writing became a way to share her experience of fear, resilience, and faith.
As a Christian author, she explored the relationship between the body, illness, and spiritual life. Her writing asks readers to consider difficult questions while holding on to hope. These reflections are her personal experience and beliefs, not medical guidance.

In his remembrance of his wife, Harold Heard describes Sindy as the heart of their family: a devoted mother and partner whose faith shaped the way they cared for one another. He remembers the importance she placed on kindness, generosity, respect, and keeping God at the center of their home.
Through her marriage to Harold, Sindy was connected to the Heard family of McKinney, Texas, and its history associated with the Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary.
Her writing carried that same hope to readers facing hardship. Harold’s tribute is a personal account of the love and example she leaves with her family, beyond the books she wrote.

Sindy has passed away, but her stories will continue. Her daughter will write new work under the Sindy Heard name in honor of her mother and the message of hope at the heart of her books. That new writing will be her daughter’s work.
The two published books featured here were written by Sindy. Vivid: Pillar of Dreams was the last book she wrote before her passing. It is planned for publication on February 1, 2027, her birthday, and is expected to be available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other booksellers after publication.
